One could argue that if DJT hadn't been the failed leader, it would have been someone else. He's just a symptom of a larger malady - & a warning about taking democracy & civil liberties / human rights FOR GRANTED.

You are 100% correct. There are more waiting to take over that created the agendas.

Eternal vigilance. That's a price that has to be paid when we have barbarians at the gate. Allow me to revise that & say INSIDE THE GATE - MAGATs, Proud Boys, Neo - Nazis & even Evangelicals who believe that DJT will bring about the Second Coming somehow.

FACTS. Because MAGA hate is real. The belief that all men ain't created equal is real. The belief in white supremacy is real because power and insecurity are addictive.

Historically this country has been through this cycle and each time the consequences are more dire.

I'm not religious, but even Damien finally snuffed it.

Maybe I'm being an idealist, but when Don breathes his last, maybe there won't be a successor.

WHERE'S THAT GRIM REAPER ANYWAY ? Never around when you need him......

Yes, clearly a time of tribulation. The rider on the white horse falsely promises peace with Israel, followed by war, disease, famine, death, and hell. Those martyred for staying true are rewarded. We're in troubled times. Focus.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!

"Until we address the systemic issues that gave us Trump, the question isn't just how to remove him. It's how to build a society that wouldn't produce another one."

Great post. I think we should all reflect on #5. We didn't get to "today" in 2+ months. It has been building up for a while.

Exactly. And I have a great book to recommend: Loretta Ross' (MacArthur 'genius' recipient, Black woman, lifelong activist). Its hard to imagine the world could ever achieve

true democracy, justice, equality and freedom.

There have always been Putins and trumps somewhere. Freedom isn't free. This now is the evil of Hitler, directed at immigrants and trump's

perceived enemies. No

matter what the past is, this is all our fight. You are not exempt.

DJT is a man who has never been a POSITIVE FORCE, so he wants to be a cross between a Hitler wannabe, a Mob boss & a modern - day Nero or Caligula - with maybe a touch of Damien stirred in.

I hear you! I agree! Also great posts from others. Yes, we've been blindly traveling down this path for quite a while; taking things for granted, being apathetic, thinking we had a lock on our freedoms. Well it led to our current horror show. I don't know what else to do but fight, protest, say no and get in his way when we can. It's FUBAR for sure. But we can't let it stand.

It was Bernie Sanders who turned me into an activist (before Trump campaigned) and healthcare-for-all was my cause. My women's action group is taking 7 cars filled with seniors to the Social Security protest on April 5. Trump certainly lit a fire under those who were less woke and I do hope their work this year will carry on through the rest of their lives.

I never contributed the serious type of money to anyone until Bernie as he was building a movement that I advocated. He spoke to me but I hope he can further wake people up this time even if he is not a candidate-it is the movement building that is critical

Americans have allowed politicians to talk about visions and not act on them. The 2nd American revolution may not involve physical violence, but a radical removal of a mindset that tolerates the systemic issues that gave us Trump and future Trumps.
